Piano teacher Carmella (Pisano) Aspri dies at 101

Carmella (Pisano) Aspri, 101, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 15, 2021 at the Hope Health Hulitar Hospice Center.

Born in Barre, Vermont, and raised in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Fiore and Angelina (Barbato) Pisano. She was the beloved wife of the late Harry Aspri.

A resident of Warwick for 67 years, Carmella was a member of St. Catherine’s Parish in Siena. She was a piano teacher for most of her life, teaching in Boston, Providence and her home studio in Warwick. She always remembered her piano students with great fondness. She studied with pianist Lawrence Berk in Boston and with Maurice Lewis at the RI Conservatory of Music in Providence. She was a member of the RI Music Teachers Association and the Schubert Club of Providence, RI for many years. Carmella continued to enjoy the piano, playing her favorite, Beethoven, until the end.

She is survived by her beloved children: Robert H. Aspri (Jo-Anne), Sandra Gannon (Rickard) and Cynthia Warner (George), eight grandchildren: Kyle Aspri, Allison Babik, Michaela de Gorter, Tristan Frangiosa , Matthew Gannon, Julie Warner, Nicole Warner and Zachary Warner, four great-grandchildren, his sister Etta Tarro, his brothers-in-law Thomas Tarro and Robert Aspri, as well as many loving nieces, nephews and friends.

A guided tour will be held on Friday, November 19, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Urquhart-Murphy Funeral Home, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Warwick, followed by a Christian burial mass at noon at Saint Gregory the Great Church, 360 Cowesett Road, Warwick.

Interment will be private.

Due to COVID-19, face masks and social distancing are respectfully requested for funeral services.
