Fire damages Flint music studio

FLINT, MI – A commercial building in Flint was damaged by a fire on Tuesday night.

Firefighters responded to a report of a fire at a commercial structure just after 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 24 at block 3400 of Martin Luther King Avenue near Pasadena Avenue, said the Fire Battalion Chief of Flint, Ramsey Clapper, at MLive-The Flint Journal.

The fire started in the back half of the building where Studio 4, a new recording studio, salon, barber shop and tattoo parlor in the neighborhood is located, he said.

The building is split into two halves, Clapper said.

Half belong to the music studio, the other half currently under renovation.

It took about two hours to put out the fire, Clapper said.

There is no determination as to the cause of the fire at this time.

The fire is being investigated by the Flint Police Department and Michigan State Police fire investigators.

Michigan State Police said the Flint Police Department was leading the investigation.

The Flint Police Department could not immediately be reached for comment.

The incident took place where a 15-year-old boy was shot dead two weeks ago.

Officers from the Flint Police Department were called shortly after 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday, August 10 to the 3400 block of Martin Luther King Avenue near Pasadena Avenue for a shootout.

Flint Police Chief Terence Green confirmed at the scene that a 15-year-old was killed.

Police then identified the victim as Tayveon Crowder. No suspicious information was disclosed.
