“When I did ‘Whip My Hair’ I didn’t really know it was an important thing because I was just expressing my joy. I was just expressing myself,” Willow said at the special concert. “Young Willow was so fearless.”
She continued, “The core of ‘Whip My Hair’ is the basic idea of all my music. The genre just changes. But I say the same thing every time. For so many years I have in some way. sort of spiraled and I didn’t understand that and wanted to walk away from it without having this understanding: I’m pushing away the very thing that is who I am. “
“I want to promote positivity,” added Willow. “I want to promote the expression. I feel like ‘Whip My Hair’ was just a huge encouragement for people to be themselves and help others to do the same.”
From shaving my head for the show – which also recently inspired her mother, Jada Pinkett Smith, to do the same – Willow noted, “This will be the third time in my life to have my head shaved. head … head to monumental times in my life, when things really change, and this is definitely one of those times. “
Willow had her head shaved as she sat in a chair on stage, playing guitar at the very end of “Whip My Hair”.
